Mod Maple Upholstered Swivel Bar Stool with Arms

The Mod brings the comfort of an upholstered arm chair to counter and bar seating.

With a padded back, upholstered arms, a generously cushioned seat, and a solid maple base, this is a swivel bar stool with arms designed for people who want more support than a typical kitchen stool provides.

Its tailored shape keeps the look clean and contemporary, while the exposed maple and four-leg base give it the presence of substantial furniture rather than a simple pedestal stool.

Made for Comfortable Sitting

The Mod surrounds you with upholstery where it matters most.

The padded back supports you well above the seat, while upholstered arms give you somewhere comfortable to rest your elbows. A 3.5″ thick seat cushion combines high-resiliency foam with suspension seating underneath.

That combination makes this especially appealing for kitchens where the stools are used for more than a quick sit — think long dinners, conversation around the island, working on a laptop, or lingering over drinks.

If you have been looking for bar stools with backs and arms that feel closer to real chairs, the Mod is worth a closer look.

Suspension Seating Under the Cushion

Instead of placing the seat cushion directly over a rigid wood platform, Darafeev uses a suspension seating system beneath the cushion.

The suspended liner has a small amount of flexibility as you shift your weight, helping create a softer and more forgiving sitting experience.

Paired with high-resiliency foam, it gives the Mod the kind of cushioning you would expect from an upholstered chair — at counter or bar height.

Choose 26″ Counter Height or 30″ Bar Height

The Mod is available in two seat heights:

• 26″ counter height — designed for most standard kitchen counters and islands around 36″ high. This is the size to choose when you’re looking for an upholstered swivel counter stool with arms.
• 30″ bar height — intended for taller bar surfaces around 40–42″ high and a good choice for home bars, pub tables, and raised counters.

Swivel Seating for Easier Conversation

The Mod includes an American-made swivel mechanism, allowing the seat to turn instead of requiring you to constantly pull the entire stool away from the counter.

You can choose the swivel type when configuring your stool, giving you control over how you want the seat to function in your space.

Solid Maple Base

The base is made from maple hardwood, giving the Mod a sturdy foundation and a clean wood grain that works especially well with contemporary, transitional, and updated traditional kitchens.

Choose from Darafeev’s available wood finishes to coordinate the stool with cabinetry, flooring, or surrounding furniture.

A metal footplate can also be added to the footrest, helping protect the wood in one of the areas that receives the most everyday wear.

Make the Upholstery Your Own

The Mod can be ordered in a wide range of fabrics, performance fabrics, vinyls, and leathers.

A light neutral fabric gives it the softer look shown here, while darker upholstery can make the same stool feel considerably more dramatic. Leather gives it another direction entirely.

Because the seat, back, and arms are all upholstered, your material choice has a major effect on the finished look.

Barstool Comforts offers free upholstery and finish samples so you can compare colors and textures in your own kitchen before ordering.
