Features
The Darafeev Ace is an upholstered dining chair with a curved back that wraps gently around you without the visual weight of a tall, fully enclosed chair.
The rounded seat and softly upholstered back give it a comfortable, inviting shape, while the open space underneath the back keeps the chair from feeling bulky around the table.
It’s a nice choice when you want dining seating that feels a little more interesting than a traditional straight-back chair.
A Comfortable Wraparound Back
The curved upholstered back gives you support across more of your body than a narrow dining chair back.
Its shape creates some of the comfort associated with a barrel back dining chair, but the open-back construction keeps the overall look lighter.
For shoppers looking for curved back dining chairs, this is the feature that really sets the Ace apart.
The Open Back Keeps It Visually Light
Although the back wraps around the seat, the open area underneath prevents the chair from looking heavy.
That makes it a particularly nice open back dining chair for rooms where you want upholstered comfort, but still want to see through and around the furniture.
Around a round or pedestal dining table, that open construction can also help the seating feel less crowded.
A Fully Upholstered Seat
The round seat is generously padded, giving the Ace a softer feel than a typical wood dining chair.
Choose fabric, vinyl, or leather depending on the look and maintenance level you want.
A textured fabric can emphasize the curved shape, while leather creates a cleaner, more tailored leather dining chair with a curved back.
Maple Keeps the Wood Detail Subtle
The exposed frame is made from maple, which has a finer and smoother grain than oak.
That means the finish tends to look more even and understated, allowing the rounded upholstery to remain the focal point.
This maple dining chair can also be customized in a range of wood finishes, making it easier to coordinate with your dining table, cabinetry, or nearby furniture.
A Nice Fit Around Round Tables
Because of its curved silhouette and rounded seat, the Ace feels particularly natural around a round dining or game table.
The chair has enough personality to stand on its own, but it doesn’t have a tall back that dominates the room.
It can work especially well when you want upholstered dining chairs that soften a room with a lot of straight cabinetry, tables, or architectural lines.
Customize the Upholstery and Wood Finish
The Ace can take on very different personalities depending on how you customize it.
Choose a subtle neutral for a quiet dining room, use a patterned fabric to emphasize the rounded shape, or pair leather with a darker maple finish for something richer.
At Barstool Comforts, we like this chair because the shape already has plenty of personality, so even simple upholstery can make it feel special.
