Product Care
You Don’t Have to Be Obsessive — You Just Have to Care
Your Simply Amish furniture is built to last for generations. With just a little attention, you can keep it looking beautiful for years to come.
Trust the Finish
Each piece is protected with a post-catalyzed varnish — a conversion varnish that’s non-yellowing and incredibly durable. When your furniture first arrives, treat it gently for the first 30 days to let the finish fully cure.
Play Defense
- Use placemats and trivets under hot dishes or rough plates.
- Add a tablecloth when serving large groups.
- Avoid placing rubber or plastic items directly on the surface — they may react with the finish.
- For writing or desk use, pad the surface to prevent impressions or etching.
- Avoid leaving items that trap moisture or heat, which can cause discoloration.
Stay Comfy
Wood is a natural material that breathes and responds to its environment.
- Too much humidity can cause warping or swelling.
- Very dry air can cause shrinking or cracking.
- Maintain home humidity around 35% for best results.
- Some woods, like cherry, naturally change color over time when exposed to light — part of their charm.
Don’t Worry
Spills happen! Just wipe them up right away.
The finish does the hard work — but prolonged exposure to moisture can damage the wood, so act promptly.
Quick Tips
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight to reduce fading.
- Never drag furniture; lift to move.
- Use felt pads under accessories to protect the finish.
