- Maple Wood — is one of the most popular of today’s furniture woods. It’s strong and elastic and wears extremely well. It’s one of the hardest of the common woods. The grain is usually straight, although occasionally there are wavy, curly and birdseye patterns.
- Oak Wood — is moderately heavy, hard, strong and tough. It scores high in wearing qualities. Oak is a ring-porous wood with well developed yearly rings and is rich in “pith” or “medullary” rays. It therefore has a pronounced grain.
